George Z. Goldberg

From the Defense Side to Yours

George Goldberg earned his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 1994 and went straight into aviation defense, representing airlines and their insurance carriers in crash litigation. He learned how insurers build cases, how they calculate exposure, and how they decide when to settle and when to stonewall.

Within two years, he'd seen enough. The same strategies he used to minimize payouts for corporations were being deployed against individuals who'd lost limbs, livelihoods, and loved ones. In 1996, he opened his own plaintiff-side practice in Florida. By 2000, he'd partnered with a law school classmate to form Goldberg & Dohan. In 2006, the firm expanded into Tennessee, and after partnering with trial attorney James Loren, it grew into the firm it is today, with more than 32 years of trial experience.

Why I Fight for the Injured

I spent the first two years of my career on the defense side. I know exactly what insurance companies are doing when they delay your claim, request another medical exam, or make a lowball offer, because I used to sit on their side of the table. Their first offer is never their best. It’s a test to see if you’ll fold.

After handling thousands of cases over three decades, I can tell you that the biggest mistake injured people make is assuming the insurance company is acting in good faith. They’re not. They have adjusters, algorithms, and attorneys whose entire job is to pay you as little as possible. My job is to make sure that doesn’t happen.
