John Byrnes Periman

Courtroom Beginnings

In law school, John Periman worked as a legal intern for Denali Law Group, gaining valuable courtroom and trial experience representing criminal defendants. After being admitted to the Alaska Bar in 2016, he spent two years as a law clerk in the Anchorage Superior Court, researching and drafting orders on felony-level criminal cases and petitions for post-conviction relief.

Defense-Side Workers’ Compensation

John left his clerkship to join Alaska’s largest workers’ compensation defense firm, working exclusively on comp law. He litigated at every stage: from trial level through appeals all the way to the Alaska Supreme Court, representing employers and their insurers.

Now Fighting for the Workers

That insider experience now drives John’s plaintiff practice. He negotiates with insurance companies to get his clients the most out of settlements, and aggressively advocates at trial when settlements cannot be reached. His goal is to get injured workers the medical treatment and benefits they deserve after a work-related injury.

I spent years representing the insurance carriers and employers. I know exactly what they look for, what they’ll fight, and what makes them settle. That experience is the leverage I bring to every plaintiff case.

On Defense Experience

Most injured workers don’t realize there’s a whole appellate side to workers’ comp. I’ve litigated cases all the way to the Alaska Supreme Court. That depth changes how we handle every claim at the trial level too.
